Recommended Applications
Soudal Trade Lead Sheet Sealant is specifically designed for professionals working with lead in roofing and construction. It provides a highly durable and weather-resistant seal, making it ideal for securing lead flashing into brick, stone, and concrete. It is also well-suited for sealing joints on gutters, downpipes, and ventilation systems.
Surface Preparation
Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, dirt, grease, organic growth, or any contaminants that could interfere with adhesion. For highly porous surfaces, a suitable primer should be applied to improve bond strength. On non-porous surfaces, a surface activator may be used to enhance adhesion.
Application Instructions
Cut the top of the cartridge carefully, avoiding damage to the threaded section. Trim the nozzle at a 45° angle, selecting an opening size between 5mm and 30mm. Apply the sealant directly into the joint, ensuring full contact with both surfaces. Smooth the joint using a spatula and a suitable finishing solution to achieve a professional finish.
Important Considerations
- Joint width should be between 5mm and 30mm, with a minimum depth of 5mm
- Avoid three-point adhesion as it may compromise performance
- Not recommended for use on natural stone due to the risk of staining
- Do not apply to surfaces containing bitumen, tar, polycarbonate, or those that release plasticisers
- Ensure the finishing solution does not interfere with the bonding process during tooling
